Presidential Campaign Council List To Be Adjusted, Not Reviewed — Presidency

The Presidency has clarified that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council list for the 2027 election has not been withdrawn, but may be adjusted to accommodate additional party members.

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made this known on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

Dare said reports that the list had been withdrawn amid controversy over the inclusion and exclusion of some party leaders were inaccurate.

According to him, the list remains valid, although the APC has yet to constitute all the subcommittees that will form part of the campaign structure.

He explained that the creation of the subcommittees would allow more names to be added to the campaign team.

Dare stressed that the list was not “cast in stone” and would undergo necessary adjustments, but rejected the description of the process as a wholesale review.

The APC had earlier dismissed reports that the campaign council list, which names President Tinubu as chairman, Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as vice chairmen, had been withdrawn.

Former Zamfara State Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari, was named Director General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was designated secretary.

Dare maintained that any changes to the structure would be limited to adjustments arising from the formation of additional subcommittees and would not amount to a comprehensive overhaul of the campaign council.
