The United Kingdom has warned that the removal of its representatives from the US-led coordination centre coordinating postwar efforts in Gaza could undermine international efforts to improve conditions in the territory.
A UK spokesperson of the UK government stated “The UK is committed to the implementation of the 20-Point Plan in Gaza and playing our part in improving the situation on the ground,” noting that the country will remain dedicated and contribute to developing the situation .
The UK also confirmed that, at the request of the United States and the Board of Peace, it would continue working at the International Gaza Support Centre (IGSC) in partnership with US, Israel, international partners and United Nations agencies in support of UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which supported the American plan for Gaza.
The spokesperson also added “Removing the UK or other partners would undermine these shared efforts,”
noting that Israel is deliberating on removing British officials from the coordinating centre amid growing tensions between London and Jerusalem over Israel’s controversial plans to expand settlements in the E1 area of the West Bank.
