Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have arrested a suspected terrorist logistics supplier and recovered four brand-new motorcycles and 450 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Katsina State.
The operation was carried out following intelligence reports on suspicious movements along the Gurbi–Zurmi route, which links Katsina and Zamfara states.
According to military sources, the troops conducted a targeted stop-and-search operation and intercepted a commercial utility truck suspected of attempting to evade security checks.
A thorough search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered four new motorcycles concealed in sealed packages, allegedly in an attempt to prevent them from being detected.
The troops also recovered 15 jerrycans, each containing 30 litres of PMS. The fuel was reportedly concealed among containers of vegetable and palm oil to disguise the consignment.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Mallam Abbas Umoru, was arrested and taken into military custody for questioning.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the recovered motorcycles and fuel were allegedly being transported to terrorist hideouts around the Katsina-Zamfara border.
The military said the operation had disrupted the logistics network of terrorist groups operating in the area, particularly their access to motorcycles and fuel believed to be used in supporting their activities.
The suspect and recovered items remain in military custody as investigations continue to identify other individuals allegedly connected to the logistics network and determine their links with terrorist groups operating in the region.
