The Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Isiaka Ayokunle, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency to put the outcome of the party’s primary election behind them and work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Isiaka made the call on Thursday at a meeting of APC members and supporters under the EasyLife Movement in Ifo, where he appealed to party faithful to avoid actions capable of creating division within the party.
According to him, the primary election has been concluded and candidates have emerged for various positions, making it necessary for members to focus on the party’s collective interest and electoral success.
The meeting was attended by APC leaders, local government and ward executives, as well as stakeholders from Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas. Among those present were former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat.
Isiaka also reaffirmed his support for the APC candidate for the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Adijat Adeleye, urging members to unite behind her candidacy.
He noted that the APC had recorded steady improvement in its electoral performance in the constituency over previous election cycles, expressing optimism that the party would secure more votes in 2027 if members remained united.
Earlier, former Ogun APC Chairman, Derin Adebiyi, said the primary contest was over and should not be allowed to cause bitterness or division among party members.
Adebiyi explained that the meeting was convened at Isiaka’s instance to strengthen unity among his supporters and the wider APC family.
He urged party members to return to their respective wards, reconcile their differences and mobilise voters for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Other party chieftains, including Hamzat, Oduwole and Sogbamu, commended Isiaka for his resilience and commitment to the party, describing the gathering as a demonstration of political maturity, loyalty and respect for party supremacy.
Speaking at the event, APC candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Adijat Adeleye, described the gathering as a significant indication that the party was bigger than individual ambitions.
Adeleye called on party leaders, former aspirants, women, youths and ward executives to embrace genuine reconciliation, assuring them of her readiness to work with all members of the party regardless of their positions during the primary.
She urged members to return to their wards with renewed commitment and translate the spirit of reconciliation into massive votes for the APC in Ifo/Ewekoro and across Ogun State in the 2027 general elections.
