Troops of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD neutralised two terrorists during a patrol in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, recover an HK 21 machine gun from the operation.
According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the encounter happened around 8:55 am on September 14, 2026, when troops of the Civilian Intervention Battalion (CIB) XVI met the terrorists while moving from Dekara towards the Gidan Zana and Sabon Gida areas.
Makama said the troops engaged the terrorists during the patrol and neutralised two of them.
He also added that one HK 21 machine gun and 15 belted rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition were recovered from the terrorists.
