Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued three kidnapped victims after foiling an abduction attempt along the Dandume-Damari axis in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation followed a distress call on Friday reporting the abduction of civilians along the route, prompting troops to immediately move to the area.
According to the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops engaged the terrorists after making contact with them, forcing the attackers to flee into the surrounding bushes.
Danja said the terrorists abandoned their victims and a black Volkswagen Golf during the encounter.
He identified the rescued victims as Abubakar Abdulkadir, 25; Mansir Idris, 26; and Abubakar Aliyu, 21.
The military spokesman said the victims were subsequently escorted and released to continue their journey.
He added that no casualty was recorded among the troops during the operation.
Danja said the operation demonstrated the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting civilians, disrupting terrorist activities and restricting the movement of criminals within its area of responsibility.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
