Youth Unveiled Coalition Group in Kwara, Backs Speaker Danladi for Governor

Former student leaders, young professionals, and youth advocacy groups in Kwara State have officially launched the Coalition of Students and Youth for Danladi 2027 (C-SYD 2027), endorsing the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, for the 2027 governorship race.

The platform was unveiled on Saturday during a World Press Conference held in Ilorin under the theme “Unity Beyond District.”

Delivering the address, the Convener of C-SYD 2027 and Representative of Kwara Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Hon. Hassan Muhammed Hawal, stated that the movement was established to foster inclusive participation and mobilize voters across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State. Hawal emphasized that the coalition aims to take political discussions directly to non-partisan youths, students, artisans, and first-time voters on campuses and in rural communities.

Detailing the rationale behind their support for the Speaker, Hawal described Danladi as a grassroots leader who rose from humble beginnings in Gwanara, Baruten Local Government Area, to become Speaker at the age of 34.

He highlighted Danladi’s academic and professional credentials, which include degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, certification as a COREN engineer, a Master’s in Revenue Management, and a Master’s in Peace and Security Studies.

Speaking on the legislative record of the 9th and 10th Assemblies under Danladi’s leadership, Hawal noted that over 66 bills alongside hundreds of motions covering education, health, security, and economic development have been passed into law. He also cited the Speaker’s constituency interventions, including the personal funding of over 300 community boreholes and support for local security infrastructure.

The coalition praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for creating a political environment that encourages youth participation in governance, describing Danladi’s governorship ambition as a natural consolidation of those generational gains.

Reaffirming their commitment to a united Kwara State, C-SYD 2027 urged political actors to avoid sectional rhetoric, focus on competence and institutional experience, and conduct their political activities peacefully ahead of the 2027 elections.
