Adewara Tolulope Moses, a Kwara-born National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member with state code KT/25C/0683 serving at Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, has successfully commissioned a Personal Community Development Service (CDS) project that provided brand-new school uniforms to 100 indigent pupils of Batagarawa Low-Cost Primary School in Katsina State.
The official commissioning and distribution ceremony for the initiative titled Project DRESS (Dignity, Readiness, Education, Support, and Sustainability) took place on Wednesday at the school premises in Batagarawa Local Government Area.
Speaking during the ceremony, Moses revealed that the project was born out of compassion after observing that many primary school children in the area routinely stayed back at home during school hours.
Upon surveying the community, he discovered that the affected children were either from economically disadvantaged households whose parents could not afford basic school attire or pupils who had lost their parents to the security challenges and activities of bandits in the region.
Sharing his personal primary school experience with inferiority complex, Moses emphasized that Project DRESS goes beyond distributing uniforms it is a strategic step toward restoring dignity, confidence, self-esteem, and classroom readiness to vulnerable children who possess the zeal to learn. He expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Batagarawa Local Government, the Katsina State Commissioner for Education, and various financial donors who supported and sponsored the initiative.
Commissioning the project on behalf of the NYSC Katsina State Coordinator, Mr. Okwor Evans N., the Katsina Zonal Inspector, Alhaji Idris Dangalan, commended the corps member for his ingenuity, selflessness, and community impact.
Alhaji Dangalan urged serving corps members to emulate Moses’s proactive approach by identifying and addressing critical needs in their respective host communities.
“Permit me to also seized this opportunity to call on government agencies, community leaders, and major stakeholders to step up support and provide the necessary resources for corps members to execute CDS projects successfully” He added.
