Nigerian entrepreneur and influencer, Sophia Momodu, has opened up about the emotional and psychological abuse she experienced after becoming pregnant out of wedlock with singer Davido.
Speaking at a United Nations General Assembly event in New York on Monday, Momodu said she faced intense mockery because she was a pastor’s daughter who had a child outside marriage.
She explained that the criticism and emotional trauma affected her confidence and made it difficult for her to speak out, despite her public profile.
According to her, “I am a pastor’s daughter who got pregnant out of wedlock by a global superstar. And I was mocked. It was crazy. I had to find myself in the midst of all that.”
Momodu said she remained silent for a long time because of the negative comments and pressure surrounding her situation.
She added that she eventually found her voice after repeatedly being told to keep quiet because people considered her story shameful.
Momodu is the mother of Davido’s first daughter, Imade Adeleke.
