As the world of work becomes increasingly borderless, access to global opportunities is no longer determined solely by where a professional is based. Remote work, digital platforms, and international hiring are creating new pathways for African talent to compete in the global marketplace. However, having the right skills is only part of the equation; professionals must also know how to communicate their value, position their experience, and present themselves effectively to international employers and clients.
Against this backdrop, Kwara Digital Pulse (KDP) is set to host its virtual September session themed “Competing Beyond Borders: Positioning Your Skills For Global Opportunities.”
Scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 8:00 PM WAT via X Space (@DigitalKwara), the session will explore practical strategies for positioning local experience for international opportunities, understanding what global recruiters look for, communicating measurable value, and building a professional profile that can compete beyond geographical boundaries.
The initiative aligns with the vision of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, to promote digital talent development, expand opportunities for young Kwarans, and position the state as a hub for innovation, skills development, and technology-driven economic growth.
To provide practical insights from human resources, talent acquisition, and career development perspectives, the session will feature two experienced industry practitioners:
Ayodele Ayodele Jnr. (HR Manager & Talent Management Strategist): An Economics graduate and seasoned HR professional with experience spanning Oil & Gas, Facility Management, Consulting, and Legal services, Ayodele currently serves as an HR Manager at a full-service law firm in Lagos. His expertise covers talent acquisition, performance management, and organisational culture. He will provide insights into what international recruiters look for, how professionals can demonstrate measurable impact, and how to position their skills and experience for global opportunities.
Olapeju Akanbi (@Pejuola) (HR Business Partner & Career Advocate): An HR professional with experience across the legal, construction, and fintech sectors, Pejuola is passionate about career clarity and making opportunities more accessible. Through her work in recruitment, career coaching, and CV optimisation, she helps professionals communicate their value and navigate career opportunities more strategically. She will explore why being qualified is not enough, and how to position one’s experience for international hiring opportunities.
The Kwara State Government invites students, fresh graduates, tech professionals, freelancers, job seekers, entrepreneurs, and members of the wider digital community to participate in this interactive session and gain practical knowledge for navigating an increasingly global employment landscape.
