Nigerian singer Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, has revealed that he intends to conduct a DNA test before accepting any child as his own.
The ‘Body Cheche’ crooner made this known during a recent episode of the In My Opinion podcast, where he disclosed that he had informed his girlfriend of his plans to sign a prenuptial agreement and conduct a DNA test whenever she gives birth.
According to Mayorkun, his girlfriend was upset by the proposal, but he maintained that he would go ahead with his decision regardless of her feelings.
“I told my girlfriend we’d have to do a prenup and DNA test when she gives me a child, just to be sure. She got upset,” he said.
The singer added that he had considered conducting the DNA test without informing his partner, noting that the outcome would determine his next course of action.
“I have thought of doing the DNA test without telling her. If it is my child, no issues. If not, everybody will hear about it,” he added.
DNA testing has gained increased attention in Nigeria amid concerns over alleged cases of paternity fraud, with some experts and public figures advocating for men to establish the paternity of their children before taking on parental responsibilities.
