Accord Party is Kwara’s Only Real Opposition, PRO Tells Voters

The Publicity Secretary of the Accord Party in Kwara State, Olamilekan Esinrogunjo has urged Kwarans not to “waste” their votes on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring Accord as the sole authentic opposition platform in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Esinrogunjo stated this while reacting to a Federal High Court judgment in Abuja that affirmed Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as the presidential candidate of the Accord Party for the 2027 election.

According to the party spokesman, the judicial outcome has eliminated uncertainty within the party structure, providing fresh momentum for grassroots mobilization across Kwara State.

He argued that the PDP has lost the capacity to serve as an effective opposition, characterizing it as a “dead party” seeking opportunistic arrangements while working covertly to support the presidential candidate of the ruling party.

“Don’t waste your vote on PDP. Accord is the only real opposition party in Kwara,” Esinrogunjo declared. “A dead party that is seeking opportunistic settlement will only waste opposition votes in the election.”

The Accord spokesman also dismissed the emerging Rainbow Coalition, describing it as an alliance of “opportunists and visionless politicians without ideology.”

He alleged that figures within the coalition were attempting to maintain ties with the ruling establishment while posing as opposition members.

“Rainbow Coalition is a coalition of opportunists, visionless politicians without ideology and those who can simply be described as sekuseye. They want to eat their cake with the ruling party and still have it as opposition,” he said.

Pointing to recent court rulings involving the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Esinrogunjo added that recent defectors claiming to be PDP National Assembly candidates would not feature on the official ballot.

He urged Kwarans desirous of political change to align with legitimate candidates and platforms cleared to contest, reiterating that Accord would intensify its “New Direction” campaign across the state, prioritizing economic transformation, affordable energy, security, industrialization, and governance accountability.
