Akwa Ibom Police Urge Alleged Machete Attack Victims to Report Incidents

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has called on residents who were allegedly attacked and robbed by a machete-wielding man to report the incidents officially at the nearest police station.

The appeal followed reports circulating on social media alleging that a man armed with a machete had been attacking and robbing residents around Osongama and Four Lanes areas of Uyo.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, urged alleged victims to provide details of the incidents, including the date, time and location, description of the suspect, items reportedly stolen and any other available evidence.

John said the information would assist the police in investigating the claims, establishing the facts and identifying and apprehending the suspect.

She also appealed to members of the public with credible information that could aid the investigation to contact the police.

The police spokesperson urged residents to remain calm, avoid confronting anyone suspected of carrying a weapon and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.

She further advised the public against sharing unverified information that could create unnecessary fear and panic.
