AbdulRazaq Approves New Enhanced Allowances for Kwara Health Workers

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the implementation of the corrected Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and an upward review of professional allowances for nurses and allied health workers in the state.

The approval was conveyed in an official memo issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Kwara State Government, dated October 19, 2026, following the conclusion and submission of a review report by a dedicated committee established on the Governor’s directive.

Under the approved welfare framework, qualified graduate nurses and medical laboratory scientists will benefit from an enhanced entry point in alignment with federal circulars, aimed at boosting workforce retention and service delivery across the state’s health sector.

The Governor also approved the retroactive advancement of medical laboratory scientists currently on Grade Level 09 to Grade Level 10, taking effect from the dates of their initial appointments to preserve career progression and seniority within the civil service.

To cushion the impact of postings in hard-to-reach areas, deployment details for nurses and allied health personnel are to be transmitted to the Office of the Head of Service to enable the processing of Rural Allowances for eligible health workers serving in rural communities.

Following the executive approval, the Chairman of the Kwara State Civil Service Commission and the State Commissioner for Finance have been directed to execute the career advancements and make the requisite financial provisions for immediate implementation.
