Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has backed Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or, insisting that there is no strong argument against the England international claiming the prestigious award.
Gerrard believes Kane deserves recognition ahead of other contenders, including Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe.
Speaking to TNT Sports, the former England midfielder praised Kane’s consistency and goalscoring ability.
“I just think Harry’s ticked every single box. Mr. Consistent. Absolute goal machine.
“I just don’t think there is an argument against it [him winning the Ballon d’Or], and I wish him all the best come that ceremony on Monday. I think it’s now or never for him,” Gerrard said.
Kane enjoyed an impressive campaign with Bayern Munich and England, scoring more than 70 goals across the two teams last season.
The striker also helped Bayern Munich secure the Bundesliga title and won the European Golden Boot, further strengthening his credentials in the race for football’s most prestigious individual honour.
