Santos forward Neymar Jr. could face a suspension of up to six matches after being reported to Brazil’s Sports Tribunal over an alleged breach of the country’s “Vinícius Júnior rule.”

The 34-year-old Brazilian was sent off during Santos’ 1-0 league victory over Bahia on Saturday following a heated exchange with Bahia midfielder Rodrigo Nestor. Neymar was reportedly shown a red card after covering his mouth with his hand while arguing with the midfielder.

Bahia have since condemned what they described as alleged verbal abuse directed at Nestor during the encounter.

Speaking after the match, Nestor said Neymar’s alleged remarks were highly disrespectful, both to him personally and to the Bahia club.

Neymar, however, hit back at the midfielder, accusing him of using what he described as “one of the dirtiest tricks in football.”

The incident has drawn attention to Brazil’s regulations concerning discriminatory or abusive conduct on the pitch, with Neymar now facing possible disciplinary action.

A hearing concerning the case is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, where the tribunal is expected to consider the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any further punishment is warrant.
