Kwara Renewal Movement Questions Adewoye’s Reported Royal Visits Amid APC Political Tensions

The Kwara Renewal Movement has questioned the circumstances surrounding Prince Lekan Adewoye’s reported attempts to meet some traditional rulers in Kwara South, alleging that the engagements did not go as planned.

The group, which is affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made its position known in a statement signed by its coordinator, Ayodele Seun, amid political activities within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The movement alleged that Adewoye had formally requested appointments with the monarchs but was unable to meet them, interpreting the reported development as a possible indication of tensions surrounding political consultations in Kwara South.

It also criticised what it described as the alleged imposition of preferred candidates by the APC leadership, questioning whether political endorsements secured through consultations outside the state necessarily reflected grassroots support.

The group further raised concerns about the involvement of traditional institutions in political manoeuvres, arguing that royal engagements should not be treated as automatic endorsements of political aspirants.

In a satirical tone, the movement said it was observing developments within the ruling party with interest, suggesting that the reported difficulty in securing the meetings could carry political significance.

However, the statement did not provide independent evidence confirming why the reported meetings did not take place. The positions of Prince Lekan Adewoye and the Kwara APC leadership were not included in the statement.
