Senator Kalu Urges APC Campaign Leaders to Return to States for Grassroots Mobilisation

By Gwen Ifeson

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has called for a leaner All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign train, urging party leaders and campaign council members to focus on grassroots mobilisation rather than following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from one rally to another.

Kalu made the call in a statement titled “The APC Presidential Campaign Council and the Need for a Leaner Campaign Train,” in which he argued that an unnecessarily large entourage was not needed at presidential campaign rallies.

According to the senator, members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council should return to their respective states and work directly with party supporters and local structures to strengthen the party’s chances ahead of the 2027 general election.

“The President should be allowed to attend campaign rallies without an unnecessarily large number of people following him in the campaign train,” Kalu said.

He added that campaign officials would contribute more effectively by mobilising support at the grassroots level and working to secure electoral victory for the ruling party.

Kalu’s remarks come amid preparations by the APC for the 2027 presidential election, with party leaders focusing on strategies to consolidate support across the country.

The senator also expressed confidence in Tinubu’s re-election prospects, while stressing the importance of effective local mobilisation in achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
