The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, has urged members of the 2025 Batch C corps to embrace entrepreneurship, create employment opportunities and contribute to national development as they complete their service year.
Nafiu gave the advice in his farewell message to the outgoing corps members, congratulating them on successfully completing their national service.
In the message signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the NYSC DG commended the corps members for their patriotism, resilience and commitment to national service.
He noted that their contributions to their host communities demonstrated the importance of selfless service and national unity.
“Your patriotism, resilience, selfless service, and unwavering dedication have inspired hope and set a shining example for others to emulate,” he stated.
Nafiu added that the projects initiated by the corps members and the lives they impacted in their host communities would remain part of their contributions to the country.
He urged them to sustain the spirit of service beyond their time in the NYSC, noting that their legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
The NYSC boss also encouraged the outgoing corps members to utilise the knowledge and skills acquired through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to establish businesses and create employment opportunities.
“As you transition into the next phase of your journey, I encourage you to boldly harness the knowledge and skills gained through the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, programme,” he said.
He advised them to become pioneers by creating opportunities for themselves and others rather than relying solely on existing employment opportunities.
Nafiu further charged the corps members to uphold the NYSC’s core values of patriotism, integrity, efficiency, commitment, teamwork and self-reliance in their personal and professional lives.
According to him, these values would guide them in overcoming challenges, pursuing their ambitions and taking up leadership responsibilities wherever they find themselves.
He added that the outgoing corps members should contribute to building a united and prosperous country through their actions and commitment to national development.
The NYSC DG wished the 2025 Batch C corps members success and fulfilment in their future endeavours, urging them to make meaningful contributions to society after completing their national service.
