Rivers Armed Group Expresses Readiness To Quit Violence, Embrace Rehabilitation

The Ekpeye Freedom Fighters, an armed group operating in Rivers State, have reportedly surrendered and appealed to the founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, to help them abandon armed activities and return to normal life.

Members of the group made the appeal in a viral video, where they were seen raising their hands and calling on the Port Harcourt-based cleric to assist them in leaving the creeks.

The armed men said they were tired of living in the bush, engaging in violent activities and constantly hiding from security operatives. They expressed their willingness to embrace amnesty and rehabilitation.

One of the group’s leaders said they considered Apostle Chibuzor the only person they could trust to help them, citing his previous efforts in rehabilitating repentant cultists, militants and former inmates.

“We are calling on Apostle Chibuzor of OPM to help us. We want to leave this life. We want to return to normal life. We are tired,” the leader said.

The Ekpeye Freedom Fighters have been accused of involvement in several kidnapping incidents, oil bunkering activities and cult-related clashes in Ahoada East and Ahoada West Local Government Areas of Rivers State.

The development has reportedly generated excitement across Ekpeye communities, with residents commending the cleric and urging the Rivers State Government and security agencies to support the group’s proposed rehabilitation.

However, as of the time of filing this report, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere had yet to respond to the appeal.
