The Ghana Police Service has arrested three Nigerian nationals suspected of being members of a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in a series of robberies targeting bank customers in Kumasi and other communities in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects were identified as Aboy Promise, 30, Favour Uwalaka, 45, and Kingsley, 35. However, another alleged member of the gang, identified as Chinedu, also known as Alhaji, is currently on the run.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command announced the arrests in a statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and signed by the Head of its Public Affairs Unit, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo.
According to the police, the arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation carried out at about 11:30 p.m. on October 31 by a special team of the Inspector-General of Police, comprising officers from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters and the Accra Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.
The operation led to the arrest of Aboy Promise and Favour Uwalaka at a hotel in Moshie Zongo. A search of their belongings reportedly uncovered GH¢1,600 in cash, several mobile phones, a Royal motorcycle and a master key suspected to have been used to gain illegal access to vehicles belonging to bank customers.
The police disclosed that during interrogation, the two suspects allegedly confessed to participating in the robberies and mentioned two other suspected accomplices, Kingsley, also known as KC, and Chinedu, alias Alhaji.
Following the information provided, the police team moved to another hotel in Dechemso, a suburb of Kumasi, where Kingsley was arrested. Chinedu, however, remains at large, prompting the police to seek public assistance in locating him.
The police explained that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly monitored banking facilities, identified customers withdrawing large amounts of money and trailed them before carrying out their attacks.
They were also accused of using a master key to break into vehicles left unattended by bank customers and stealing cash and other valuables.
The Command further revealed that the arrested suspects allegedly confessed to robbing a bank customer of GH¢15,000 at Asokore Mampong on October 27, 2026, shortly after the victim withdrew the money from Kwamang Rural Bank.
They also reportedly admitted to carrying out similar operations around the Atonsu branch of Fidelity Bank, the Ahodwo branch of Access Bank and other locations across Kumasi and its surrounding communities.

Meanwhile, the police have advised bank customers to exercise caution, particularly when withdrawing large sums of money, and remain alert to suspicious individuals around banking premises.
Motorists were also warned against leaving cash and other valuables inside unattended vehicles.
The police urged anyone with useful information about the whereabouts of the fleeing suspect to report to the nearest police station or contact the Ghana Police Service through its emergency numbers 191, 112 or the toll-free MTN and Telecel line 18555.
The Command reiterated its commitment to combating robbery and other criminal activities in the Ashanti Region while appreciating residents for their continued support and cooperation.
The three arrested suspects have since been transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, where they are assisting with ongoing investigations.
