Police Headquarters Directs Six Commissioners to Submit Retirement Notices

The Force Headquarters has directed six Commissioners of Police to submit individual retirement notices to the Police Service Commission after reportedly attaining the statutory retirement age.

The directive followed allegations that some of the affected senior officers had refused to retire in line with public service regulations and were allegedly lobbying for promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs).

A police signal titled “Discharge and Retirement,” with reference number INGENPOL/FORSEC Abuja – DTO 020749/11/2026, conveyed the directive to the affected officers and relevant police departments and formations.

The signal stated: “INGENPOL warns you and directs under-listed Commissioners of Police to submit individual notices of retirement, having attained mandatory statutory retirement age of 60 years.”

It also referenced a letter forwarded to the Police Service Commission with reference number PSC/2116/111/26.

The signal listed Commissioners of Police Adamu Elleman, Abdullateef Adamu, Titilayo Lasisi, Markus Ishaku Basiran and Sylvester Oniye Ozoefuna, alongside another unnamed officer.

Their dates of birth were listed as January 5, 1958; January 28, 1963; January 17, 1966; January 25, 1965; September 2, 1966; and April 25, 1964, respectively.

However, the directive contains discrepancies, as it refers to six officers but provides only five names. The listed dates of birth also indicate that only one of the officers was born before 1960.

The inconsistencies raise questions about the identities and retirement eligibility of the affected officers, requiring clarification from the relevant authorities.
