••• Seeks Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Intervention
The Jimba Oja community in Kwara State has rejected the recent appointment of Oba Ismaila Adebayo as their new king, accusing the state Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Abdullah Abubakar Bata, of misleading Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The community leaders, under the aegis of the Jimba Oja Descendant Congress, in a press conference held today, Friday expressed their grievances.
They alleged that the appointment process was flawed and did not reflect the wishes of the community.
Alhaji Olanrewaju Bakare, the Administrator General of the Congress, stated that the community’s traditional kingmakers had already nominated candidates, but the commissioner allegedly presented a different name to the governor.
Bakare emphasized that Oba Adebayo was not a preferred candidate and accused him of creating his own ruling house and council of kingmakers, bypassing traditional procedures.
While extending appreciation to the Governor for his giant strides in the development of the State and environs, Bakare also congratulated the Governor on his appointment as the Chairman of the Nigerian Governor’s Forum.
He noted the Government of HE AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is known for credibility and for always standing for the truth.
We are appealing to Governor AbdulRazaq to review the appointment and ensure that the rightful candidate is chosen according to local customs and traditions, He added.
On her part, Alhaja Memunat Ajao who’s the woman Leader of the Union urges Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to come to their aid. She pleaded that the future of the Community is at stake if the needful is not done with immediate effect.
“We’re calling on our peace loving Governor to please swing into action and come to our aid. We’re peace loving people and we will never venture into anything that’ll bring chaos to our Community, she said.
The appointment of Ismaila Adebayo has caused more division than good, since his announcement, Jimba Oja Community hasn’t witnessed peace as he is not the choice of the Kingmakers, people and the community.” she said.
The Eesa and Head of the Kingmakers of Jimba Oja, Alhaji Wahab Hassan noted that the two ruling houses in Jimba Oja are Akaparo and Baale forwarded names with Ismaila Adebayo not listed on the list.
“How he was miraculously announced as our King illegitimately still remains a mystery to us” He added.
The group expressed confidence in the governor’s commitment to fairness and justice and urged him to rectify the situation.
They hope that the governor will listen to their concerns and take appropriate action to resolve the issue.
