The Kwara State Government has taken disciplinary action against a teacher, Hajia Hamzat Fatimoh Nike, who was found guilty of mistreating a youth corps member at Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin.
A joint statement released by the Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, and the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar, confirmed the development.
According to the statement obtained by 9japarrot Media, an investigative panel established to probe the incident found the teacher culpable of various offenses including fighting on duty, using foul language, insubordination, and disrespecting the national identity represented by the corps member’s uniform.
As a result of her misconduct, the teacher has been demoted by two grade levels and transferred from her current school, the statement added.
Additionally, she is mandated to undergo counseling sessions.
The government expressed deep regret over the incident and assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that such behavior does not reflect the values of the state.
Kwara Govt pledged to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The statement further urged all teachers in the state to adhere to the rules and regulations governing the public service and to conduct themselves professionally.
The government reiterated its commitment to training teachers on ethical conduct and proper service delivery.
