The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspects alleged to have been responsible for the death of a motor driver in Abeokuta, the state capital after a fight.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed this in a statement in Abeokuta.
“On December 13, 2024, around 3:00 AM, Alao Fadipe, a resident of Iyana Ikereku, reported that at about 2:00 AM, he witnessed individuals fighting near the roadside in front of his house.
“Upon arriving at the scene, he observed Olalere Timileyin, a truck driver, and his motor-boy, both associated with Larfage Cement Itori Ewekoro, physically assaulting a man whom they accused of stealing their tarpaulin until he lost consciousness.
“Acting on the complaint, detectives from Obada Oko responded and arrested the driver and his motor-boy at the location. the injured man was promptly taken to State Hospital Ijaye for medical care but sadly passed away during treatment”.
She said that the body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy.
“The suspects are currently being interrogated, and efforts are underway to reach the deceased’s family.
“The case will be forwarded to State Criminal Investigation Department Eleweran for further investigation.”
