In a bid to promote community well-being and provide accessible healthcare services, the Agbamu Descendant Union (ADU) has successfully hosted its 7th annual free medical outreach program for residents of the Agbamu community and environs.
The event, which took place on Friday, drew hundreds of beneficiaries, including youths, elderly, and children, who received various free medical services, including blood pressure checks, blood tests, eye examinations, malaria tests, and treatments for general body weakness, among others
Speaking at the event, Dr. Kayode, an eye optician and long-term partner of the outreach, commended the initiative, stating;
“It has been seven years since I partnered with ADU, and this initiative has been immensely beneficial to the community. The free medical services, particularly the provision of eyeglasses, which cost over half a million naira annually, underscore the magnitude of this outreach.”
Dr. Yusuf, a principal medical doctor involved in the program since its inception, lauded the Kwara State Government for its support, particularly in deploying medical staff to enhance the outreach’s effectiveness. He also commended the ADU for their unwavering dedication to fostering a healthy community.
In her remarks, Mrs. Bola Opadere, Assistant Health Coordinator and Health Education Officer, emphasized the importance of proper health management and the need to prioritize well-being.
“We urge you all to take your health seriously and make informed decisions about your well-being,” she said.
Mr. Adeyemi Josiah, Social Director of the Agbamu Descendant Union, commended the community and supporters who have made the program a success.
“We are grateful for the support and partnership we have received over the years. This program would not have been possible without your contributions,” he said.
The organizers extended their appreciation to their corporate partners for their supports, particularly Phamatex Industries LTD who have been supplying free medications support annually and other resources for the past five years. They also acknowledged the collective efforts of ADU members, highlighting their contributions to the program’s ongoing success.
Beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, noting the significant impact of the medical outreach on their lives.
“This medical intervention is timely and a huge relief to those of us who cannot afford some drugs and medical requests,” said Mrs. Olajide Abosede, one of the beneficiaries.
According to our reporter, over 500 beneficiaries received free eyeglasses, sugar tests, medical check-ups, and high-quality medications worth millions of Naira.
“This program has not only provided critical health services for us but also strengthened community bonds, making it a cornerstone of health and wellness in our community” said another beneficiary.
