A five-man panel of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, has dismissed an appeal filed by the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, challenging the leadership of the State House of Assembly under Speaker Martin Amaewhule.
The court awarded a cost of ₦2 million against Governor Fubara, payable to the Rivers State House of Assembly and Martin Amaewhule as the first and second respondents, respectively.
The decision to dismiss the appeal followed the withdrawal of the suit by the governor’s counsel, Yusuf Ali. Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, in delivering the ruling, affirmed the validity of the leadership structure led by Amaewhule.
