Kwara Govt Debunks Fake Documents in Circulation, Says Gov AbdulRazaq is APC Sole Candidate for Kwara Central Senate

The Kwara State Government has clarified that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak is the sole aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the ongoing Kwara Central Senatorial primary election holding across the state today.

The clarification comes amid the circulation of a misleading viral document on social media alleging that the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Saliu Mustapha, was among aspirants cleared to contest for the APC Senatorial primary in Kwara Central.

In a statement posted on his social media platforms on Monday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Communication Strategy, Ibraheem Abdullateef Akolu, stated that Governor AbdulRazaq remains the only recognised aspirant for the Kwara Central Senatorial seat under the APC.

According to Akolu, Governor AbdulRazaq was the only individual who obtained the nomination form for the senatorial district and equally the only aspirant from Kwara Central who participated in the party’s screening exercise conducted in Abuja.

“The implication is that the primary election holding today across the 52 wards in Asa, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, and Ilorin West Local Government Areas is essentially to affirm the candidature of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” the statement noted.

The development follows an earlier statement issued by the media aide to Senator Saliu Mustapha, Nasif Sholagberu, who dismissed reports linking the Senator to the ongoing Senate primary election.

Sholagberu maintained that Senator Mustapha neither purchased nomination forms for the Senate contest nor participated in the screening exercise for the National Assembly primary.

He described the viral document as false, fake, and misleading, urging party members and the general public to disregard it entirely.

The statement further stressed that Senator Mustapha had openly declared and pursued his governorship ambition under the APC, making it impossible for him to simultaneously contest the Senate primary election.

Meanwhile, the APC Senatorial primary elections are expected to witness keen contests in the other two senatorial districts of the state.

While six aspirants are reportedly contesting for the Kwara North Senatorial ticket, no fewer than 10 aspirants are jostling for the Kwara South Senatorial seat.
