
Constituents of the Kwara Central Senatorial District have commended their senator, Saliu Mustapha, for his recent Agricultural and Human Capital Development Empowerment Programme, tagged Alubarika Empowerment 1.0.
The constituents who gave this commendation while speaking during the empowerment Programme which took place at the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority in Ilorin on Friday, lauded the Senator for his innovative approach to empowerment, describing it as a departure from the norm.
Many beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the senator’s focus on sustainable development, particularly in agriculture and human capital investment.
They noted that the initiative, which provided equipment like tractors, deep freezers, generators, farm produce, ovens, grinding machines, transformers and other essential tools to support their businesses, would go a long way in improving their livelihoods.
One of the beneficiaries, Faruq Aduagba, a young farmer, said, “This is the first time we are seeing an empowerment program that truly addresses the challenges we face in agriculture. Senator Mustapha is doing it differently by focusing on long-term solutions instead of just distributing cash.”
Similarly, another beneficiary, Yunus Sikirat, who received support for her fish business, praised the senator for empowering youths and women. “With this support, I can expand my business and create job opportunities for others. This initiative shows that Senator Mustapha genuinely cares about the economic growth of his constituents.”
According to him, “It’s been long that our community has been struggling with poor electricity supply, but through Senator Mustapha’s empowerment, we now have a transformer that will improve our daily lives and businesses. He is truly doing it differently.”
Another beneficiary, Mallam Qozeem Abdulkadir, a solar technician who benefited from the solar installation equipment, commended the senator’s foresight in supporting clean energy solutions. “This equipment will help me expand my work in installing solar panels for homes and businesses. It’s a game-changer for me and my colleagues in the renewable energy sector.”
On her part, Aminullahi Khadijat Agbeke, who received a grinding machine, explained how the empowerment would boost his business. She said, “I have been renting grinding machines to run my business, but now, I have my own. This will save me money and allow me to serve more customers in my community. I can’t thank the senator enough for this opportunity.”
The event was attended by top dignitaries, including Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, Minister of Agriculture, Sen Abubakar Kyari, Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Oyinlola Ashiru (Kwara South), Chief Whip of the Senate, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Chairman Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other financial institutions, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru and Senator Aminu Iyal Abass, who all applauded the senator’s efforts in uplifting the people of Kwara Central.
