
In a significant move to bolster agricultural productivity and ensure food security, Senator Oyelola Ashiru, representing Kwara South Senatorial District, has distributed 5,000 farm inputs and food items to farmers across the district.
The distribution, which took place in Offa on Thursday and Friday, last week. This come a day after the initial disbursement of tools to Artisans.
The event saw the allocation of essential agricultural resources, including VESPANIL Plus—a selective herbicide primarily used in rice cultivation to control a broad spectrum of weeds—Knapsack Sprayers, Avesthrin Cypermethrin 10% EC (a broad-spectrum insecticide formulated to effectively control a wide range of insect pests in agricultural, domestic, and public health settings), quality maize seeds, rice, and fertilizers. These inputs are expected to enhance crop yields and improve the livelihoods of farmers in the region.
Representatives from all Local Government Areas within Kwara South were present.
Senator Ashiru emphasized the importance of supporting farmers to achieve self-sufficiency and reduce dependency on external food sources.
Senator Ashiru’s initiative is part of a series of empowerment programs aimed at uplifting various sectors within Kwara South.
By providing farmers with the necessary tools and inputs, the Senator aims to stimulate economic growth, reduce poverty, and promote sustainable agricultural practices in the district.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the inputs would significantly impact their farming activities.
