Kwara Gov Holds Strategic Security Meeting with Top Army Chief

Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), on Saturday held a strategic meeting with senior officers of the Nigerian Army at the Ahmadu Bello House in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The meeting is a continuation of the AbdulRazaq-led administration’s robust efforts to further enhance the security architecture across the state.

Present at the crucial security parley were high-ranking military officials including Brigadier General Daniel Dieke (Corps Commander Education), Major General Peter Oguntola (Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi), Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, and Brigadier General U.J. Makber.

The meeting, which concluded on a positive note, underscores Governor AbdulRazaq’s unwavering commitment to fortifying Kwara’s security and ensuring the state remains hostile to non-state actors and criminal elements.

This recent engagement follows a similar strategic meeting held in April, where the Governor convened with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, alongside heads of security agencies in the state and traditional rulers, also at the Ahmadu Bello House.

Following that earlier meeting, Lieutenant General Oluyede had expressed profound gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for his consistent support to the Nigerian Army, which included the donation of operational vehicles and motorcycles to the 22 Armoured Brigade. He further assured the Governor of the Army’s continued collaboration with other security agencies to maintain peace and order in Kwara State, particularly in the northern and southern parts of the state which have faced recent security challenges.

The Governor’s proactive engagements with military leadership highlight the multi-stakeholder approach adopted by the Kwara State Government in tackling insecurity and ensuring the safety of lives and property for all citizens.
