Tinubu Calls Back Ishola, Nigeria Ambassador to UK

The Nigerian government has recalled Sarafa Ishola, the Nigerian ambassador to the United Kingdom, due to the expiration of his tenure.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, signed the recall letter, officially ending Ambassador Ishola’s role as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nigeria to the United Kingdom.

According to the letter, President Buhari has made the decision to recall Ambassador Ishola, marking the end of his tenure.

The letter instructs him to begin the process of concluding his responsibilities and to formally say goodbye to the UK government within sixty days. He is expected to return to Nigeria by October 31, 2023, at the latest.

The letter also expresses President Buhari’s appreciation for Ambassador Ishola’s service and leadership as Nigeria’s ambassador in the United Kingdom.

It concludes by thanking him for his exemplary service to Nigeria and looking forward to welcoming him back in Abuja.

Prior to his appointment as ambassador, Sarafa Ishola had served as the minister for mines and steel development under former President Musa Yar’Adua.

He was appointed as the high commissioner to the UK by former President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2021.
