Abia Govt Slams Deputy Speaker Kalu, Accuses Him of Serial Betrayer, Disloyalty

••• Says He Repaid Orji Uzor Kalu’s Kindness with Betrayal

The Abia State Government has launched a scathing attack on the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, labeling him a “traitor, liar, serial betrayer, and an arrogant man” and questioning his moral integrity for leadership.

This development was confirmed in an official statement released on Monday through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, and made available to 9japarrot media, the Govt accused the Deputy Speaker of a growing pattern of deceit and betrayal against his political benefactor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

The statement directly addressed the political relationship between the two prominent Abia figures, detailing how Senator Orji Uzor Kalu allegedly facilitated Benjamin Kalu’s rise to prominence.

The Abia State Government claimed that Senator Kalu not only mentored and financed the Deputy Speaker but also provided his flight ticket abroad and gave him 25% of his shares in Bende Export Limited, despite Orji Kalu being the 100% owner.

“Sadly, Benjamin Kalu squandered the entire investment, leaving his benefactor with nothing,” the statement alleged.

Furthermore, the government stated that even after this disappointment, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu stood by the Deputy Speaker, helping him secure his House of Representatives seat.

“Unfortunately, Benjamin Kalu repaid that kindness with betrayal, turning against the very man who built him,” the statement read.

The Abia State Government further accused the Deputy Speaker of continuing this “shameful pattern” by “gossiping and maligning Senator Orji Uzor Kalu before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” thereby forgetting the hand that once lifted him.

The government insisted that such behavior exposes Benjamin Kalu as “untrustworthy and unfit to speak about governance or to aspire to lead Abia State.”

Governor Alex Otti, who was Senator Kalu’s banker at the time, was cited as an awareness of the financial and political transactions that allegedly empowered Benjamin Kalu.

Furthermore, the statement asserted that leadership requires humility, loyalty, and integrity—qualities it claims the Deputy Speaker lacks.

“His arrogance and unbridled pride have become his trademark, making him unfit to represent the collective interests of the Abia people,” the statement concluded, urging the public to be mindful of individuals whose political survival depends on lies and deceit.

Abia government reiterated its focus on transparent leadership and the delivery of good governance, promising not to be distracted by the political maneuvering.
