As political activities for the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, a prominent socio-political group, the Kwara Integrity Women Association (KIWA), has formally called on world-renowned neurosurgeon and technocrat, Professor Olawale (Wale) Sulaiman, CON, to contest for the governorship of Kwara State.
This development was confirmed in a press conference held on Tuesday by the group’s Chairperson, Hon. Hajia Aminat Folake who described Kwara as being at a crucial crossroads, necessitating a leader with a proven global track record, integrity, and the capability to sustain the developmental strides of the current administration.
A central theme of the endorsement was the group’s insistence on merit and competence over traditional political factors such as regional entitlement or zoning.
Hon. Folake noted that Prof. Sulaiman’s record is defined by high-level achievement rather than sentiment.
“Professor Wale Sulaiman’s profile speaks for itself. His record is defined by merit and competence, not by sentiment, sectional interests, or regional entitlement. We believe he is the caliber of leader Kwara deserves, a leadership grounded in vision and a track record of results.” She said.
The group highlighted Prof. Sulaiman’s distinguished career in the United States and Nigeria as a key reason for their support.
Referencing his Global expertise as a respected neurosurgeon and physician executive, he has managed complex healthcare systems and multi-million dollar budgets, they added.
The group noted his active role within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his understanding of the state’s institutional leadership.
They also cited his history of service through the RNZ Foundation and his tenure as Special Adviser to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as evidence of his clarity of mind and compassion of heart.
KIWA expressed a strong desire for the continuity of the good governance established by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, emphasizing that Prof. Sulaiman is the most qualified steward to protect the progress made in Healthcare & Rural Infrastructure by connecting farmers to markets via improved road networks, Economic Revolution by moving toward modern, livable cities and job creation for the youth.
They added that in Security & Food Safety, Wale Sulaiman will nurture a peaceful state where agriculture can thrive to feed the nation.
The Group’s Coordinator, Hon. Hajia Aminat Folake while concluding the briefing issued a formal invitation to Professor Wale Sulaiman on behalf of the maternal and communal backbone of the state to consider contesting for Governor.
“We call on Prof. Wale Sulaiman to heed this heartfelt appeal from the women of Kwara and step forward to run for Governor under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), she said noting that the time is now, the need is urgent, and the choice is clear.
