Senator Ashiru Concludes Week-Long Medical Outreach with Equipment Distribution

•• PHCs in Oke-Ero, Ifelodun, and Isin Receive Vital Supplies

The Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, has officially announced the successful conclusion of his 2026 comprehensive health intervention program.

The initiative, which spanned multiple local government areas, has successfully bridged the healthcare gap for thousands of constituents through direct medical services and infrastructural support.

The three-day medical outreach provided a wide array of services to residents who previously struggled with access to quality care cutting across Ekan in Oke-Ero LG, Igbaja (Ifelodun LG) and Omupo (Ifelodun LG).

The Medical services delivered featured arrays of comprehensive check-ups for all beneficiaries, specialized Care (Dedicated eye and ear care sessions), Patients diagnosed with cataracts scheduled for correctional surgeries, Chronic Disease Management where Patients with hypertension received free blood pressure monitoring machines and maintenance medications and
Infrastructural Support.

To ensure the intervention leaves a lasting legacy, Senator Ashiru oversaw the distribution of essential medical equipment and pharmaceutical supplies to five key Primary Health Care (PHC) centres. This move is designed to empower local clinics to handle emergencies and routine care more effectively.

The Beneficiary PHCs includes Idofin-Igbana Primary Health Care Centre, Koro Primary Health Care Centre, Ruba PHC, Isapa, Model PHC, Owu-Isin and Ilale Primary Health Care Centre.

In a statement marking the end of the exercise and received by 9japarrot Media, Senator Ashiru expressed deep appreciation for the social harmony that allowed the team to work efficiently.

“I appreciate our traditional institutions for the warm reception of the health team and the community for their cooperation and orderliness. This initiative is part of our efforts to bring healthcare closer to our people and improve health delivery in our community.”, He said.

9japarrot reports that this successful intervention reinforces Senator Ashiru’s reputation for “human-centric” representation. By focusing on both immediate relief (outreach) and long-term capacity building (equipment distribution), the lawmaker is addressing the root causes of medical neglect in Kwara South, particularly in the more remote regions of Ifelodun and Oke-Ero.
