The Egbaliganza-Lisabi Festival 2026 Press Conference, held this week in Abeokuta, outlined the full vision, structure, and scope of the upcoming Egbaliganza cultural showcase, scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026, as a flagship cultural programme of the Lisabi Festival for the third consecutive year.
Positioned as Africa’s first official Culture and Fashion Exchange, Egbaliganza-Lisabi Festival 2026 will convene governments, cultural institutions, designers, artisans, investors, and diaspora stakeholders to advance culture as a structured economic and diplomatic force.
Conceived to honor Lisabi Agbongboakala and inspired by the visionary royal guidance of Kabiyesi, the Alake of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Egbaliganza stands as a living tribute to Egba courage, creativity, and collective destiny. It operates under the full authority of the Lisabi Festival Committee.
At the session, organisers, cultural stakeholders, and institutional representatives outlined how Egbaliganza has evolved into a structured cultural platform that brings together heritage preservation, creative enterprise, tourism, and global cultural exchange, rooted in Egba identity and open to the world. Building on the momentum of its previous editions, the 2026 showcase expands in scale, scope, and continental participation, with formal institutional backing, economic targets, and a clear cultural mandate rooted in Egba heritage and African unity.
According to Aare (Dr.) Lai Labode Convener, Egbaliganza, “Egbaliganza was conceived as a gift to the Egba people and a living monument to Lisabi Agbongboakala- our symbol of courage, sacrifice and collective will. Under the leadership of the Lisabi Festival Committee and the royal blessing of Kabiyesi Alake, Egbaliganza has become a strategic cultural engine within the Lisabi Festival. Lisabi Festival gives us the platform. Egbaliganza gives us the expression. The unity and progress of Egbaland remain our purpose.”

Key several major cultural components confirmed for Egbaliganza-Lisabi Festival 2026, including Parade of Nations A large-scale cultural convergence featuring delegations from over 50 countries, each presenting distinct cultural aesthetics, attire, and heritage expressions; Walk of Heroes and Walk of Kings Symbolic cultural segments honouring legacy, leadership, and historical continuity within Egba society and across participating cultures; Egba Fashion Club Runways & Hackathons; Youth-led platforms merging indigenous textiles such as Adire and Aso-Oke with modern fashion, technology, and sustainable production models; Traditional Performance and Drumming Including the unveiling of the Alake’s Drum, a ceremonial cultural element tied to Egba heritage and royal symbolism; “Oja Egbaliganza”- Historic Cultural Pieces and Artefacts Presentations of garments and cultural items spanning centuries, reflecting deep-rooted African craftsmanship and historical continuity; Gala Night – “Flame of a Continent” A curated evening of performance, ceremonial presentations, and cultural storytelling reflecting unity across African nations.

A central theme of the press conference was Egbaliganza’s role in positioning culture as a driver of economic participation and opportunity. Organisers highlighted how previous editions of Egbaliganza have contributed to Increased hotel occupancy and hospitality demand in Abeokuta, Direct income opportunities for artisans, designers, performers, and craftsmen; International visibility for Egba creatives and cultural practitioners; Renewed diaspora engagement, with increased travel and cultural reconnection.
