His declaration speech obtained by 9japarrot media on Saturday, highlighted a decade-spanning career of service.

The speech reads as follows;

OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF INTENTION TO CONTEST FOR THE KWARA SOUTH SENATORIAL SEAT – 2027 GENERAL ELECTIONS

My dear people of Kwara South,
Distinguished leaders, elders, stakeholders, and our esteemed royal fathers.

I come before you with a deep sense of responsibility, humility, and unwavering commitment to the progress of our people, to formally, and by the will of Almighty God,  declare my intention to contest for the office of Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District in the forthcoming 2027 General Elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This decision is not borne out of personal ambition, but from a long-standing dedication to the unity, development, and collective advancement of Kwara South. It is a response to the aspirations and yearnings of our people and a call to serve with renewed vigor and purpose.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of engaging our communities at various levels. As the Deputy Governorship Candidate in the 2019 and 2023 Governorship Elections in Kwara State, I traversed our towns and villages, listening, learning, and understanding the emotions and the real needs of our people.

My service as a two-term Member of the House of Representatives, coupled with additional official eight years interfacing and working with the leadership of the Senate provided me with a practical platform to contribute meaningfully to both National and legislative development, and constituency growth.

During this period, I sponsored and supported key legislative initiatives, facilitated impactful constituency projects, expanded access to basic infrastructure, promoted education through scholarships and interventions, and empowered our youth and women through targeted programs and employment opportunities.

Furthermore, my experience, particularly  as Deputy Chief of Staff to the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria exposed me to the inner workings of governance at the highest level. I coordinated strategic engagements and interfaced with critical  institutions, government agencies, Head of Parastatals and Departments, including members of the diplomatic community. These experiences have strengthened my capacity to deliver effective representation and to attract meaningful development to our district.

I firmly believe that legislative service must go beyond lawmaking. It must embody effective representation, strategic advocacy, accessibility, and continuous engagement with constituents. It requires accountability, transparency, and a deep connection with the people we serve.

My vision for Kwara South is clear and actionable:

●To accelerate infrastructural development across our communities;

●To expand economic opportunities and support local enterprise;

●To strengthen education and human capital development;

● To provide mecessary tools and support for agricultural revolution;

●To enhance security and social stability; and

●To promote inclusive, transparent, and responsive governance and representation.

I am committed to building a Kwara South where every community matters, every voice is heard, and every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.

Today, I call on all our stakeholders, leaders, elders, youths, women, traditional institutions, religious leaders and the good people of Kwara South at large to join me on this journey.

Together, we can build a future that reflects our shared dreams and collective aspirations.

I also respectfully seek the support, partnership, and goodwill of all development-focused organizations, community leaders and groups across our district as we work collaboratively for the greater good of our people.

With a heart full of hope,  and faith in God Almighty, and a firm resolve to serve, I pledge to be your “Hope Ambassador”, a bridge between your expectations and real measurable progress.

Thank you for this uncommon opportunity and privileges. I promise not to underestimate your trust and confidence on this assignment.

May God bless Kwara South, and may God bless Kwara State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you.

Signed:

Sir, Hon. (Barr.) Gbenga Peter Makanjuola
