DAY 5: PUBLIC FINANCE AND FISCAL MANAGEMENT:
At the heart of sustainable development lies sound financial management. Governance requires the ability to manage resources effectively, ensure accountability, and deliver value for the people. Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Olasumbo Florence Oyeyemi brings exceptional strength in Public Finance and Fiscal Management, built from years of hands-on experience at the highest levels of government.
As Commissioner for Finance and Planning, she was responsible for: Overseeing state budget formulation, presentation, and execution; Managing revenue generation, expenditure control, and fiscal sustainability; Implementing transparent financial systems aligned with global standards (IPSAS), and driving reforms such as the state online Treasury Single Account (TSA), Revenue automation and government e-procurement, which strengthened accountability and reduced leakages.
Her leadership in public finance was not just administrative, it was transformational. She played key roles in fiscal reforms, improved internally generated revenue, and enhanced financial transparency within government systems. This level of expertise is critical at the National Assembly, where decisions on budgeting, appropriation, and oversight directly impact national development and the grassroots constituency progress.
