Hon. Bashir Ashura Withdraws from House of Assembly Race

A leading aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara North, Hon. Bashir Ashura has officially announced his withdrawal from the race for the Patigi State Constituency seat in the Kwara State House of Assembly.

Ashura, who has been a prominent voice in the constituency, described the move as a difficult but necessary decision following extensive consultations with party leaders and key stakeholders.

In a statement released on Sunday and made available to 9japarrot, Ashura reflected on his campaign journey, describing it as a period of profound growth and engagement.

“This journey has been one filled with valuable lessons, meaningful engagements, and unforgettable experiences,” he stated adding that “Though demanding at times, it has strengthened my resolve, broadened my perspective, and deepened my commitment to the service of our people.”

Despite stepping down, Ashura emphasized that his focus remains on the progress of Patigi.

“While this chapter may be closing, my commitment to the growth and development of Patigi remains unshaken,” he added.

Political analysts in the region suggest that Ashura’s withdrawal may be a strategic move to foster unity within the PDP as the party seeks to present a formidable front against the ruling APC in the 2027 elections. By stepping down after thoughtful deliberations with party hierarchy, Ashura is seen as prioritizing party cohesion over personal ambition.

The former aspirant extended his deep appreciation to his campaign team and the people of Patigi for their loyalty, sacrifice, and dedication throughout the process.

“Politics, for me, has always been about service, unity, and the progress of our people,” Ashura noted, thanking everyone who believed in his vision.
