Frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has debunked rumors making the rounds that he has withdrawn from the race or stepped down for another candidate.
In a press statement issued on Friday morning and made available to 9japarrot media, the former senator representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly described the claims as false, clarifying that he remains fully in the contest to secure the party’s 2027 gubernatorial ticket.
Oloriegbe’s reaction comes amidst a fast-evolving political climate in the state chapter of the APC, following a sudden rescheduling of the party’s governorship primary election to this morning.
The medical doctor turned legislator urged party stakeholders, delegates, and the general public to completely disregard the insinuations, which he noted were circulating in some quarters to create confusion ahead of the ballot.
He emphasized that his gubernatorial bid is built on a resolute commitment to providing experienced, competent, and inclusive leadership to elevate Kwara State to greater heights.
“I wish to state clearly and unequivocally that there is no truth whatsoever in such claims,” Senator Oloriegbe declared.
“I remain fully in the race for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress and have neither withdrawn my aspiration nor endorsed any aspirant. My decision to contest is rooted in a sincere conviction about the future of our dear state.” He added.
Following the adjustment of the primary election timetable by the party’s leadership, Oloriegbe called on his delegates and grassroot mobilizers across the sixteen local government areas to turn out en masse this morning to cast their votes for his candidacy.
He further admonished party members to conduct themselves peacefully, reminding them that the party’s ultimate strength relies heavily on its adherence to democratic fairness and internal harmony.
The race for the ruling party’s ticket has intensified over the last 48 hours. Oloriegbe’s firm stance follows a dramatic turn of events on Thursday evening when fellow aspirant Captain Ahmad Mahmoud rescinded his own withdrawal to rejoin the ballot.
