First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to supporting refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), particularly women and children affected by conflict and other humanitarian crises.

In a message marking the 2026 World Refugee Day on Saturday, Mrs Tinubu expressed solidarity with refugees and displaced persons worldwide, saying their situation highlights the need for compassion, shared responsibility, and collective action.

Referring to this year’s theme, “Solidarity with Refugees,” she said it serves as a reminder of the global responsibility to support those forced to flee their homes in search of safety, security, and hope.

The First Lady stressed the importance of pursuing peaceful solutions to conflicts and ensuring refugees and displaced persons have access to the opportunities and resources needed to rebuild their lives.

She also reaffirmed that Nigeria would continue to prioritise the welfare of vulnerable people affected by displacement, especially women and children, while extending goodwill to refugees and displaced persons as the world marks the annual observance.
