Yiaga Africa has raised concerns over the low voter turnout recorded during the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday, 20 June 2026.
The election observation group said its preliminary findings, based on the Process and Results Verification for Transparency (PRVT) methodology, estimated voter turnout at between 34.0 and 38.1 per cent across the state.
According to Yiaga Africa, if the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) official turnout falls within this range, it would accurately reflect participation at polling units. The estimates were compiled from reports received from between 246 and 250 sampled polling units, representing 98 per cent of the selected locations.
For the election, the organisation deployed 250 stationary observers, 22 mobile observers across all 16 local government areas, as well as 16 observers to monitor results collation at the local government level.
