The Assistant Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Hon. Bashir Ashura, has extended warm birthday congratulations to a prominent political stakeholder and youth advocate, Engr. Baba Idris, on the occasion of his 42nd birthday anniversary.
Ashura made the remarks on Friday, June 26, 2026, in a tribute celebrating the structural impact, mentorship, and vision that the celebrant continues to provide for young people across the state, particularly within the Kwara North senatorial district.
Reflecting on his personal political trajectory, the PDP chieftain disclosed how a late-night strategic counseling session with Idris about eight months ago fundamentally reshaped his career focus, leading to his emergence as a state party executive.
“At the time, my ambition was focused on contesting for the State House of Assembly. Naturally, I was reluctant to consider any alternative. However, with his characteristic wisdom and foresight, Baba Idris advised me otherwise. He firmly believed that contesting for the position of Assistant Publicity Secretary of our great party, the PDP, would make a stronger statement and provide a wider platform for service and growth,” Ashura revealed.
He added that by yielding to the advice and trusting the judgment of the seasoned administrator, he eventually contested the party position unopposed, an opportunity he noted has broadened his political horizon and strengthened his leadership experience.
According to him, the gesture is just one out of countless instances where Idris has actively looked inward to discover, guide, and position younger demographics for mainstream institutional relevance, irrespective of their political leanings.
“Without exaggeration, Baba Idris remains a point of reference for young men and women across Kwara North. His influence cuts across political affiliations, social backgrounds, and personal interests. Even many individuals within the APC readily acknowledge the positive role he has played in their personal and professional development,” he stated.
He described the 42-year-old engineer as a natural bridge-builder and a dependable counselor who measures true leadership through tangible human capital development rather than empty political titles.
