Ebonyi LG Poll Holds August 22, Parties Begin Campaign

The Local Government Area (LGA) elections in Ebonyi State will hold on August 22 in all the state’s 13 LGAs and 171 wards.
The election is expected to produce the councils’ chairmen and the councilors across the state.
In preparation for the poll, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, on Monday, began its campaign for the August 22 Local Government Area (LGA) elections in Ikwo with a resolve to drive massive grassroots mobilization.
The party’s leaders from Ikwo LGA and beyond, speaking in unison, emphasized the need for increased collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to secure victory across the state’s 171 wards and 13 LGAs.
Gov. Francis Nwifuru, while presenting the party’s flag to its chairmanship candidate, Mr. Chidi Nwode, urged party faithfuls to unite in ensuring total victory at the polls.
Nwifuru, represented by Deputy Governor Mrs. Patricia Obila, described the party’s chairmanship and councillorship candidates as “tested, trusted, and marketable.”
“I therefore urge party supporters to embark on issue-based campaigns and avoid actions capable of undermining the peaceful conduct of the election.
“We have presented these candidates to you, and it is therefore your responsibility to go into communities and make them acceptable to the people.
“They are the best candidates to field, so do not be distracted by negative propaganda,” he said.
Other political parties were said to have also began campaign ahead of the poll. (NAN)
