Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kwara State on Digital Innovations, Hon. Ishola Kayode has called on young people across the state to view everyday societal challenges as opportunities for technological innovation and practical problem-solving.
Hon. Kayode made the call on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, while speaking at the Kwara STEM Funfest 2026 held at the Ilorin Banquet Hall in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The event, themed “Beyond Imagination: Shaping the Future with AI, Robotics and Innovation,” was organized by the Webfala Digital Skills for All Initiative (WDSFAI) and brought together students from 17 schools across the state to showcase science experiments, robotics projects, and digital innovations.
Flora College emerged as the overall winner of the exhibition competition, while Federal Staff School and Nobel Enterprise secured second and third places, respectively.
Commending the organizers for expanding digital access in underserved communities, Ishola emphasized that true innovation originates from identifying immediate local needs and creating responsive solutions.
“Do not see the challenges around you only as reasons to complain; learn to see them as opportunities to create solutions,” He said.
“Our aspiration under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is not simply to produce young people who consume technology developed elsewhere, but to nurture a generation capable of creating solutions that respond directly to our needs.” He added.
The Governor’s aide noted that the administration’s Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Program has successfully trained over 5,800 students to equip them with future-ready technical skills.
During the exhibition assessment, Hon. Ishola inspected student project displays, provided technical feedback, and connected selected young inventors with industry mentors for further development of their prototypes.
