NACCIMA, Chinese Aircraft Maintenance Company Explore Investment Opportunities in Nigeria’s Aviation Sector

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has explored areas of collaboration with one of China’s leading aircraft maintenance companies, the Grand China Aviation Maintenance Company Limited (GCAM), with the aim of attracting foreign direct investment, accelerating industrialisation, and creating jobs for thousands of people in the country.

Led by the National President, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON, a NACCIMA delegation visited the office of GCAM in Haikou, Hainan Province of the People’s Republic of China, on Friday, November 6, 2026, for a crucial business engagement.

Also in attendance was the Consul General of Nigeria in Guangzhou, Amb. Mairo Musa Abbas, who played an important role in facilitating the meeting between NACCIMA and the aircraft maintenance company on the sidelines of the 2026 Hainan Free Trade Port International Investment Cooperation Promotion Conference.

With comprehensive capability to support a fleet of over 600 aircraft, GCAM operates as a subsidiary of HNA Technic Company Limited, which is also under the umbrella of HNA Aviation Group, the fourth largest airlines group of China.

Established in 2012, GCAM, the subsidiary company, undertakes key services such as airframe maintenance, repair, inspection, cabin renovation, overhaul, among others.

Speaking at the meeting, the National President told the management of GCAM that Nigeria will be an attractive investment destination for them. He said Nigeria boasts a huge population and is well positioned in Africa.

“It’s a big opportunity for your company. We have the population you can leverage for your business. We are talking about a country of over 200 million people, with a significant air traffic. So, there is business for you in Nigeria. We invite you to come and invest here,” he said.

Engr. Ibrahim also pitched the idea of direct flight between Nigeria and China through Hainan Province, saying NACCIMA is ready for talks with the HNA Aviation Group to facilitate the arrangement. He said direct air connectivity between Nigeria and China will significantly reduce travel time, offer huge relief for travellers, and boost trade volumes between the two countries.

The NACCIMA delegation also suggested collaborations for technology transfer and training opportunities for the young population in Nigeria considering the rich experience and detailed technical strength of GCAM in the aviation sector.

The Consul General of Nigeria in Guangzhou, Amb. Abbas reaffirmed the commitment of the Consulate to initiatives that strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and China. She noted that both countries share a long history of cooperation, but still have a lot more area to harness for stronger economic ties and mutual benefits.

NACCIMA’s strategic meeting with the management of GCAM in Hainan, China represents another milestone in its mandate of connecting businesses and opening Nigeria to sustainable global opportunities.
