Asisat Oshoala, a prominent player for the Super Falcons, has been included in the shortlist for the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or.
This recognition comes after her successful season with Barcelona Femeni. The French Football organization announced the nominees in a tweet on Wednesday evening, September 6, and Oshoala was among the 30 players listed.
In order to win the award, Oshoala will have to outshine 29 other talented individuals, including Aitana Bonmati, who was a Women’s World Cup champion.
Oshoala achieved victory in the Champions League with her team and was also a part of the Nigerian squad that unfortunately exited the round of 16 in the 2023 Women’s World Cup held in Australia/New Zealand last month.
Last term, the 28-year-old Nigerian played a crucial role in her team’s triumph in the Primera Division, and she also contributed to their victory in the Supercopa de Espana Femenina, completing a remarkable treble.
Throughout the season, she scored an impressive 21 league goals in 28 games.
