Political activities in Kwara State surged on Saturday as people trooped out in their large numbers under the aegis of the Ambassiyah Movement to organized a massive solidarity rally in Ilorin, strongly appealing to Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, MFR, to contest the 2027 gubernatorial election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The rally drew hundreds of supporters, party stakeholders, and prominent figures from across all the three senatorial districts of Kwara State, signifying a new wave of political excitement.
The procession, which commenced at Pake, brought activities to a standstill as supporters marched through major routes in the state capital, chanting solidarity songs and displaying banners urging Yahaya Seriki to enter the race, the march passed through Maraba and Post Office areas, proceeded to the frontage of the Kwara State Government House along Ahmadu Bello Way, and finally concluded at Fate, Ilorin.
In their speech, Leaders of the Ambassiyah Movement described Ambassador Seriki as a grassroots leader, philanthropist, and a unifying force capable of sustaining and advancing the state’s progress.
The movement’s leaders asserted that their call was driven by Seriki’s impressive track record and his potential to be the most credible and capable successor to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq
The group highlighted Seriki’s commitment across several key areas, including Economic Management, commending him for his deep understanding of economic management and political dynamics.
They group also acknowledged his contributions in Human Capital Development, commending his unwavering dedication to youth empowerment, women support initiatives, and philanthropic gestures that have touched lives across all the 16 local government areas in Kwara State.
While also seizing the opportunity to canvass for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term citing success of key economic reforms, political stability among others, the group expressed confidence that Seriki’s leadership would bring inclusive governance and enhanced development through infrastructural projects, job creation, and poverty alleviation programmes in the Kwara.
The Ambassiyah Movement unimously called on the leadership of the All Progressive Congress APC party to adopt Ambassador Abdulfatahi Yahaya Seriki as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 gubernatorial election, reaffirming their belief in his vision to lead Kwara State to greater heights while consolidating the gains of the current administration.
