Omo Ibile Igbomina Partners KW-iRS to Boost Tax Compliance; Hails Solar Borehole Projects

The National President of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Sir (Chief) Bisi Fakayode, has called on all indigenes of the Igbomina ethnic bloc to prioritize tax compliance as a critical contribution to the development of Kwara State.

The call was made during a courtesy visit by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the socio-cultural organization to the corporate headquarters of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-iRS).

The visit is part of the new Igbomina leadership’s strategy to foster collaboration with government and non-governmental agencies.

Sir Fakayode expressed the appreciation of the Igbomina people for the various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives facilitated by the KW-iRS. Specifically, he highlighted the provision of solar-powered boreholes in several Igbomina communities, which he described as plausibly commendable efforts that have directly improved the quality of life at the grassroots.

“Our communities have benefited immensely from these developmental projects. It is only fair that we, as a people, reciprocate by ensuring we fulfill our civic duties through regular tax payments.” He said.

Responding to the delegation, the Executive Chairman of KW-iRS, Mrs. Shade Omoniyi, emphasized the indispensable role of organizations like Omo Ibile Igbomina in shaping public perception toward taxation.

She noted that without consistent tax compliance, it remains difficult for the government to sufficiently address basic social infrastructural gaps.

The Revenue Chief urged the Igbomina leadership to act as societal gatekeepers by taking the advocacy for tax compliance to the various social and entrepreneurial strata within their domain.

She described the visit as timely and apt, expressing optimism for a mutually beneficial relationship.

The meeting featured high-level representation from both sides with Omo Ibile Igbomina led by President Sir Bisi Fakayode and accompanied by Social Secretary Chief Aiyedun Hammed and Assistant General Secretary Mr. Joel Afolayan.

KWIRS Executive Chairman Mrs. Shade Omoniyi was also joined by her senior management team.
