••• Unveils Visionary 2027 Roadmap for Sustainable Progress, Kwara’s Shared Prosperity
Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial district, Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar has officially declared his intention to contest for the office of the Governor of Kwara State come 2027.
9japarrot reports that the declaration held on Tuesday at the Baseball Park, Adewole, was less of a political rally and more of a “Covenant with the People”.
Addressing a massive crowd of party faithful, stakeholders, and citizens, the Lawmaker emphasized that his aspiration is born out of a responsibility to protect and expand the foundations laid by the current administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON).
Senator Sadiq’s declaration speech centered on a comprehensive roadmap titled “Sustainable Progress for Kwara’s Shared Prosperity.”, where He vowed to move Kwara beyond subsistence toward a modern, tech-driven economy.
He highlighted his visions which cuts across the expansion of solar power for rural communities and productive clusters, Moving the state from subsistence to agro-industrial growth with modern inputs and irrigation, Deepening digital education, technical vocational training, and universal health insurance and unlocking the state’s heritage as an engine for jobs while building economic infrastructure to attract investment.
Foundations are not built to be admired alone; they are built to carry greater structures,” Senator Umar said adding that the next chapter of Kwara must be one where development is not occasional, but consistent; not selective, but inclusive.”
The declaration event witnessed an unprecedented show of unity as elders and stakeholders from all three senatorial districts took turns to endorse the Senator’s bid.
Speaking earlier, the Kwara South APC Elders Caucus Forum, led by Elder Dr. J.B. Ayeni said the region will support the aspirations of Kwara North with utmost considerations.
“We in Kwara South are in total support of a Kwara Northerner to be the next Governor. We have resolved to work with them,” He said..
Another Kwara South APC Stalwart, Prince Olarewaju Shuaib (SOFAB) further described the aspirant as “Sadiq the Eagle,” adding that he is far better than all other aspirants and well fitted to rule the state.
Former Commissioner Abdulmumin Katibi delivered a convincing testimony, admitting that while Moro LGA initially resisted the Senator Sadiq in 2019, adding that his performance has earned him total support from many people.
Elder Statesman Sen. Ahmed Mohammed described the aspirant as a “Unifier” and the “best bet” to succeed the performing Governor.
Adding to the discourse, General Bolakale Agbabiaka (Rtd) from Kwara Central affirmed that Senator Sadiq Umar is “super qualified” and urged all stakeholders to rally round the project to consolidate the state’s gains.
Prominent industrialist and philanthropist, Dr. Lanre Shittu, who delivered the vote of thanks, gave a glowing character reference.
“I have known Senator Sadiq Umar for many years and I can vouch for him in totality. Everything he has said today is nothing but the truth,” he said.
